![]() ARTICLE WRITTEN by Marilyn Lakewood What’s difficult about writing erotic romance? Well, for me, definitely speed and staying organized. I’m a clutterbug. Files, plots, and characters—they all need to be organized. Unless I watch myself, my desk gets cluttered, my plots drift off to undesirable places, and my characters become someone ‘else.’ To top it all off, I’m not a speedy typist. I muse, mull and imagine stories all the time. I love it. I love being in the ‘zone’ when the story is rushing along like a steamroller on skates, but my typing is like sand on the road, slowing down the works. I want to plead with my characters. “Wait! I can’t type that fast!” It isn’t like I haven’t tried. I type a lot, but just don’t get any faster. The brain/finger connection seems to be set on some kind of internal 45 wpm speed limit. It’s like there’s some magnetic force that keeps my fingers on each key a nanosecond longer. Sticky fingers—slow, sticky fingers. Yet, the stories keep calling, and I keep writing—with all the speed of a glacier. Amazing. (Even more amazing, is that page by page, the books get finished.) ‘Till next time, Marilyn ![]() Marilyn Lakewood is our latest UP and Coming author!
