I was just wondering if anyone has seen the new improved book trailer for "Lovely" yet? In a world of music, text and still images I wanted to do something different, however I don't have resources to do a Twentieth Century Fox trailer, but set out to make something really cool! I failed. But, Elizabeth SaFleur did not! She gave me video and text much like other trailers I'd seen in the Book Trailer grave yard and for a while we used it. Then I thought -- I'm so sick of text. Along came fiverr.com who slapped me upside the head and knock an idea into me. Woah, wait -- voice over? Yeah!! I don't want to read the text, I want someone say it like in a movie trailer. I have to say we got a pretty sexy voice for Jonathan Brond. We used the same guy for a Snow Blood excerpt we did and it just worked! Now I'm super proud of what Elizabeth and I put together, but it didn't come as low budget as I wanted. We had some missteps, I put a lot of it together but Elizabeth found the video and now, without further adieu... the "Lovely" book trailer... Tell me what you think. We worked hard on this and though it's something I haven't seen too much of, it's also not something way high budget. At least not like the low end $1,500 trailers I've seen professional companies make. For me, this trailer beats text and still images but I know there's room for improvement.
Soon I'll be making more book trailers like this one and I know after a few under my belt I'll be looking for bigger and better. But I say, lets step up our book trailers! We don't have to have text and still images. Get creative! Look around and see what's out there that fits your book. Just like when you want to impress a date with a rose, it's the same is swooning a reader with your book trailer. Go out there and impress your date/reader (whatever). I look forward to new ideas and creations by some of the most talented people I know--you! To all those that push me beyond, thank you.
